Did you know?

‘we make our beliefs up!’

Beliefs are a feeling of certainty about what something means. Beliefs are not facts. You may hold your beliefs as absolute reality, but when you deconstruct them and challenge them, you may see that they don’t hold any water. Many of our beliefs are simply conclusions we have drawn based on our experiences as children. One thing that is constant is that at the time we chose any belief, no matter what that belief may be, it made sense at the time.  Therefore, no belief is stupid, or bad, or even wrong.  Beliefs serve a purpose and sometimes our lives change so much that our old beliefs no longer serves us, in fact they may be holding us back or keeping us stuck. An example of a limiting belief around health is ‘healthy people are independent and independent people are lonely’.  So if a person had this belief, and didn’t want to be lonely, they probably wouldn’t be too healthy.  This is not right or wrong for this person, it is just what they believe. Self-limiting beliefs are false interpretations (negative thought patterns) that hold you back.  And you keep holding on to them because making excuses and staying the same is a lot more convenient than changing, isn’t it? Change requires hard work, effort and leaving your comfort zone. Do your beliefs serve, support, nurture or challenge you?  If not, why hold onto them?

A great read

Awaken The Giant Within by Anthony Robbins Reading this book has encouraged me to explore my motions.  One of Anthony’s many theories is that ‘emotion is created by motion’.  He believes that ‘everything we feel is a result of how we use our bodies, even facial expressions’.  It is amazing how good it feels when I walk around with a smile on my face.  Instead of all strangers walking past me without any interaction at all, some of them smile back at me.  It is quite funny, sometimes I even see people do a double take.  It is almost like they don’t believe what they think they saw and look again.  It is an amazing feeling to know that you have made someone smile, and my perception of that is I have made them happy, just by walking around with a smile on my face.  Pretty powerful stuff!

It is an inspirational book which is clear, straightforward and designed to get you to your own personal best.

Quote of the Month

Focus on thinking, talking and writing about the reality you want to create – Jack Canfield

Affirmation Corner

‘Friendship’ Affirmations I am blessed with more friends than I could ever imagine and/or I am the type of friend that I would like to have

What I have learnt about myself One of my beliefs was that researching was a waste of time as only practical outcomes were a productive use of my time.  On a logical level, I knew I had to research to find out what I wanted/needed to know.  I would never have guessed that I had been holding myself back for so long with this disempowering and limiting belief.

Bring on Google!!!!!!!
