Empower Newsletter – May 2011
Welcome to the May, 2011 edition of the Empower Newsletter. This month I am not going to mention anything about your Goals for 2011 as I trust they are a constant in your life and they are progressing nicely.
Did you know?
’When we know the outcome we desire, decisions become easy’ Think about it, if a goal or value you have is based around quality family time rather than money, then the decision not to take a position that will rob you of time spent with your family will be a no brainer. If your goal or value relates to becoming healthier, a decision about what to eat becomes easier and quicker. Every decision you make produces a result (positive or negative). So next time you have a decision to make ask yourself what specific outcome you want?
A great read
Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus by John Gray This is a book I have wanted to read for a while. It’s an oldie but a goodie. Although I am only half way through, it has already given me so many insights into the different ways men and women think and communicate. John articulates these differences in a fun ‘fairy-tale’ way. He includes practical suggestions on how to improve communication and also translates what is said by both men and women into what is actually meant. For instance, when us women are disappointed in our man, we may say something like “How could you do this?” or “Why can’t you do what you say you are going to do?” or “Didn’t you say you would do it?” or “When will you ever learn?” The message he actually hears is “There is no good reason for disappointing me. You are an idiot. You can’t do anything right. I can’t be happy until you change!” There are so many more examples of how men and women communicate (or don’t communicate) and how what is meant from both sides isn’t necessarily how it is taken. Very interesting stuff and well worth reading.
Events Schedule

Chicks in the City meet the third Wednesday of every month from 6.30pm to 8pm at Ryde Eastwood Leagues Club, 117 Ryedale Road, West Ryde in the Hawks Lounge (lower ground lounge area).
Chicks in the City is a group for women to connect. Basically it’s all about hanging out with women, meeting new friends, socialising, finding like-minded women to chat to or even making long lasting friendships.
