‘deadlines are like a magic wand for getting things done’
We use deadlines in business but sometimes we don’t utilise them as much as we could in our personal lives.
If there are no deadlines that’s when things can easily slip through the gaps and never get done. I hear some of you saying, “In the scheme of things what does it really matter if some less important things don’t get done?”
Well for starters, it will stay on your mind. It will be lingering in the back of your mind like one of those little niggles ready to pounce when you see, think about or are reminded of the thing that hasn’t been done.
And if there is more than one thing you what to do but are putting off, these niggles will multiply and happen more often.
By getting what you want done you will eliminate the niggles which will allow you to relax and enjoy your time. Imagine how much more productive your mind will be and how relaxed you will feel without having an attack of the niggles.
Things don’t have to be urgent or important to place a deadline on them. If you would like them done, that’s as good a reason as any. For example that spring clean that never seems to happen or making that phone call to enquire about the course you’re interested in.
Start by making a list. Write down the things you would like done as you think of them. Then decide when you will do it and write that date, time and duration next to it. Remember it doesn’t have to be completed in one session, you can come back to it. Just keep writing the next time you will do it until it is completed.
Imagine how good it will feel to cross it of the list and illuminate that niggle. So why not wave that magic wand today!

A time or date before which a particular task must be finished or a particular thing must be done.
Something to Ponder |
Deadlines aren’t bad. They help you organize your time. They help you set priorities. They make you get going when you might not feel like it.
~ Harvey Mackay ~
Quotes of the Month |
“We need to distinguish between stress and stimulation. Having deadlines, setting goals, and pushing yourself to perform at capacity are stimulating. Stress is when you’re anxious, upset, or frustrated, which dramatically reduce your ability to perform.”
~ Andrew J. Bernstein ~
“Deadlines refine the mind. They remove variables like exotic materials and processes that take too long. The closer the deadline, the more likely you’ll start thinking waaay outside the box.”
~ Adam Savage ~
Affirmation Corner |
